Costa Rican Native Animals
In a recent study by The National Institute of Biodiversity shows that at least one million species exist in Costa Rica - 1,000,000 species exist in the small habitat Costa Rica. While only owning 0.25% of the world land mass, Costa Rica defies the greatest expectation and supports over a million species, this just shows the biodiversity of fauna in Costa Rica. Offering a bridge between Central and South America, Costa Rica is a hub for biodiversity.

In every nook and crany, animals thrive in Costa Rica. The vast understory of the rainforests provide shelter for many animals, and the consistant tropical temperature and climate support an array of animals from the venemous snakes to the yelling tree tops with howler monkeys.
During our time in Costa Rica, we saw an abundance of different animals. In the image to the left, you can see the Fertile Ants snake coiled on the rocks. During our night-hike at La Selva (The world-renown research stations), we saw the most venemous snake in all of the Americas. We also experienced at least a dozen toucans, a dozen sloths, and even an eyelash pit-viper which can almost strike at speeds of 200 miles per hour. Our group visited the densly naturous habitats for around four days, and we saw more rare species then we can remember.
