About Costa Rica

Ecology of Costa Rica

One of the main reasons why Costa Rica contains so many different species is becuase of their geography.  Their vast array of different geography allows Costa Rica to host thousands of different species, not only host, but indulge the species with their perfect climate and spectacular environment

Costa Rica has 12 different climate zones, and as many as 27 different weather patterns.

  • Most of Costa Rica is near or in a fault zone, allowing there to be mountains, volcanoes, hills, and an extreme variation of temperature

  • The Pacific coast lowlands average around 90 degrees while the peak of Mt. Cerro Chirripó almost never exceeds 48 degrees.

Ecotourism of Costa Rica

Only occupying .03% of the earth, yet having 6% of the world's biodiversity, it isn't a suprise Costa Rica is a hotspot for ecotourism.  In last year alone, Ecotourism raked in over $3 billion dollars to the Costa Rican economy.  This statistic shows just how vital Ecotourism is to the economy, and the significance of the diverse Costa Rican Area.  When Ecotourism attracts foreigners to visit Costa Rica, not only does it revamp the economy with extra cash flow, but it also gets the government involved with the Costa Rican environment.

Ecotourism has adapted into a significant role in the Costa RIcan economy and many local lives, bringing the attention of goverment officials.  Instead of making the decision to expand infrastructure, increase polution, the government is now mindful and motivate to protect the wildlife.  One of the main reason 30% of Costa Rica is still habitat for many animals is because of the government attempting to prohibit mass deforestation, attempt to lower fossil fuels/a carbon footprint.

Not only has ecotourism brought many to experience to wonders of Costa Rica, experience the different animals, it has also brought in impactful income to the economy, and has helped save the prominent, prestine landscape.  Without ecotourism, it is extremely possible that Costa Rica wouldn't be covered with habitat, and maybe the rare animals of Costa Rica wouldn't be around today.
